Price Sentry — Privacy Policy

Price Sentry ("the app", "we", "us") is a competitor-price monitoring and price-positioning tool for Shopify merchants. This policy explains exactly what data the app accesses, why, how long we keep it, and your rights. Price Sentry is designed to operate at Protected Customer Data (PCD) Level 0: it does not request, receive, store, or process any order or customer personal data.

1. Who we are

Price Sentry is operated by the app developer ("the operator"). For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact: privacy@pricesentry.syncerp.work.

2. Data we access

From your Shopify store (Admin API)

Price Sentry requests only these scopes:

read_products — to read your own product titles, variants, SKUs and current catalog prices. These are the same public prices a shopper sees. We use them so you can pick products to monitor and so we can compare your price against competitors.
read_publications — to know which of your products are published (so the watchlist reflects what's live).

We do not request and cannot read read_orders, read_customers, read_all_orders, checkout, fulfillment, payment, or analytics scopes.

From the public web

Public competitor list prices and in-stock status from the competitor product URLs you choose to add (e.g. eMAG, Altex). We read these pages the same way any visitor's browser would, using structured product data (JSON-LD / Open Graph / microdata). We never log in to any site and never access anything behind authentication.

Provided by you

Competitor labels and URLs you enter, and an optional unit cost you type into the reprice simulator (used only in your browser session / for that calculation; entered by you, never read from orders).

3. Data we do NOT access or store

Orders, line items, transactions, refunds, or fulfillment data.
Customer names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, or any personally identifiable information.
Payment, checkout, or analytics data.

Because we hold no customer personal data, the mandatory Shopify GDPR webhooks behave as follows:

customers/data_request — we truthfully respond that we hold no customer data.
customers/redact — no-op; there is nothing to erase.
shop/redact — we delete all of your shop's Price Sentry records (see Retention).

4. How we use data

To display your products' competitive position (rank, gap vs cheapest/median competitor) and a catalog-wide pricing-health score.
To build a 30-day competitor price history and detect undercuts.
To run the reprice / margin-impact simulator at your request.
To operate billing (plan status) via Shopify's managed Billing API.

We do not sell or share your data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. We never auto-change your prices.

5. Storage, security and sub-processors

Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database on a dedicated server operated for the app at pricesentry.syncerp.work (Contabo VDS, EU). Background jobs use a Redis instance on the same server.
Your Shopify access token is encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM); we store ciphertext, never the plaintext token.
Transport is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.

Price Sentry does not use any third-party AI/LLM provider — the positioning, trend and margin logic is plain arithmetic, run on our own server. No store data is sent to any AI service.

6. Retention

We retain your watchlist (product GIDs, your prices), competitor URLs, and scraped competitor price readings for as long as the app is installed.
Uninstalling the app stops all processing immediately.
On Shopify's shop/redact event (≈48 hours after uninstall) we delete all of your shop's Price Sentry records. You may also request deletion sooner via the contact below.

7. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Because we process no customer personal data, the data we hold is your store's own catalog/competitor information. You may at any time:

Request a copy of the data we hold for your shop.
Request correction or deletion of that data.
Withdraw access by uninstalling the app.

To exercise any right, email privacy@pricesentry.syncerp.work; we respond within 30 days.

8. International transfers

Data is hosted in the EU. Where Shopify processes data across regions, Shopify's own data-processing terms and safeguards apply.

9. Children

Price Sentry is a business tool not directed at children and does not knowingly process any child's data.

10. Changes

We will update this policy as needed and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be surfaced in the app.
