The key unlocks Pro in Highlighter, on up to three Google accounts. A team licence covers every add-on we publish, for a whole organisation — see team pricing. After payment the key arrives by e-mail; you paste it into the panel and it is verified inside your own Google account. Not what the page describes? Write within 14 days and we refund in full.
After payment the licence key is e-mailed to you automatically, usually within a minute (if it is not there, look in your spam folder, then write to us and a person will send it again). Nothing from your file is ever sent anywhere: there is no database and no analytics. Without a licence key the add-on makes no network request at all; with a Pro licence it asks our licence server once a day whether that key is still active, sending only the key and a random identifier for the installation. The key stays in your account; you can remove it yourself at any time. That is why this add-on can honestly claim that nothing leaves Google.
You drop back to the free tier. You are never locked out of your own documents: marking, the categories, the counts and the extract keep working — and everything already highlighted stays highlighted, because it is part of your document, not of the add-on. We think being cut off from a tool you already installed is a bad way to treat people.
