Statwise

Statwise — Statistics, Regression & ANOVA

Statwise is a Google Sheets™ add-on that runs the statistical analyses people used to run with the Analysis ToolPak: descriptive statistics, correlation, histograms, t-tests, z-test, F-test, ANOVA and regression — each one producing a full, labelled output table in a new tab.

What the app does

Why it exists

The add-on most people used for this stopped working in 2026 and its publisher confirmed it was discontinued. Statwise is built from what its users complained about for years: results that appeared without a word when something went wrong, hard row limits, a wrong degrees-of-freedom formula in the unequal-variances t-test, and no way to tell whether it was still computing.

Correctness, checked against a public reference

Regression is computed with a QR decomposition and reproduces the certified values of the NIST Statistical Reference Datasets — including Longley, the case designed to break implementations that take the easy route. Every test statistic and p-value is checked against SciPy in an automated suite that runs before each release. Correctness is not a paid feature: the same formulas run for everyone.

Permissions and privacy

One permission, the narrowest one there is: “See, edit, create, and delete only the specific Google Sheets™ spreadsheet this application is used in.” Everything is computed inside the add-on — there is no server of ours, no analytics, and nothing about you or your data is transmitted anywhere.
