The short version: Cards reads the subject of the one email you have open, to pre-fill the card title; it reads that same email's sender and body only when you click Create card, and then sends the card you compose to Trello™, to your own Trello account. Nothing from your file is ever sent anywhere: there is no database and no analytics. Without a licence key the add-on makes no network request at all; with a Pro licence it asks our licence server once a day whether that key is still active, sending only the key and a random identifier for the installation. We never see your email, your Trello token or your cards.

| Permission requested | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
gmail.addons.current.message.metadata"View your email message metadata when the add-on is running" |
To read one header of the one email you have open — its subject — so the card title is pre-filled when the panel appears. Metadata carries no message body, so nothing you wrote or received is read at this point. |
gmail.addons.current.message.action"View your email messages when you interact with the add-on" |
To read the sender and the plain-text body of that same one email, and only at the
moment you click Create card, so the card description can carry a short excerpt (capped
at 4,000 characters) and a link back to that email. Nothing is read on this permission until you click.
We deliberately did not ask for …current.message.readonly: it would
also grant the other messages in the thread, which the add-on never touches. |
gmail.addons.execute"Run as a Gmail add-on" |
The permission every Gmail™ add-on needs to show its panel next to your email. |
script.external_request"Connect to an external service" |
To call the Trello API — api.trello.com and nothing else (the add-on's manifest
whitelists only that host). This is how your boards and lists are listed and how the card is created,
in your own Trello account. |
The add-on asks for nothing else: no access to your other emails beyond the one that is open, no Drive, no Calendar, no contacts.
You connect Trello yourself, on trello.com: Trello shows you a token and you paste it into the add-on.
We never see your Trello password, and the token is never sent to us — it is stored in the add-on's user
properties inside your own Google account and used only to call api.trello.com. You can
disconnect at any time from the add-on's panel (which removes the token from your account), or revoke the
token from your Trello account settings; either one immediately ends the add-on's access to Trello.
Nothing is sent to us. The add-on has no backend server of ours, no database, and no
analytics or tracking of any kind. The email you have open is read inside Google's Apps Script runtime
and used to compose the card; the card is sent directly to Trello. Error logging is switched off in the
add-on's manifest (exceptionLogging: NONE).
The card you create — its title, the excerpt and the link back to the email — is stored by Trello in your own Trello account, under Atlassian's privacy policy. Choose what you send there just as you would when typing into Trello directly.
All three live in the add-on's user properties inside your own Google account, not with us. None of them contain email content.
If you buy Pro, you receive a licence key and paste it into the add-on. It is stored in your own Google account and checked by verifying its signature — no licence server is contacted. The key contains the email address or domain it was issued to. You can remove it at any time with Manage → Remove licence from this account.
When you write to us to buy a licence or ask for support, we receive your email address and whatever you put in the message. We use it to issue your key and to answer you, and we do not sell, share or profile it.
The add-on runs within Google's infrastructure, under your own Google account, subject to
Google's Privacy Policy.
The only outbound requests go to api.trello.com, authenticated with your own token.
We hold nothing, so there is nothing for us to delete. The token, the board/list preference and the licence key live in your Google account: disconnecting Trello removes the token, and uninstalling the add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace or revoking its access at myaccount.google.com/permissions immediately ends all access. Cards already created remain in your Trello account, under your control there.
We share Google user data with exactly one third party, and only because you ask us to:
| Recipient | What is sent | Why |
|---|---|---|
Atlassian (Trello) — api.trello.com |
Only the content of the card you create: the title (which starts from the subject of the message you have open), the sender, an excerpt of the message body (capped at 4,000 characters) and a link back to that email. Plus the board and list you pick. | Because creating that card on your Trello board is what the add-on does. The request is made directly from Google Apps Script™ to Trello, authenticated with the token you created on trello.com. Trello then handles that content under Atlassian's privacy policy. |
Nobody else. Ever. We do not share, sell, rent, transfer or disclose Google user data to any other party — no analytics provider, no advertising network, no data broker, no sub-processor and no affiliate. There is no such transfer even as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, because there is no stored data to transfer.
Not even to us. The add-on runs inside your Google account and calls Trello directly. It sends nothing to any server of ours, so we do not receive, hold, share or disclose your data — and we could not hand it to anyone, including in response to a legal request, because we do not have it.
Because the add-on collects nothing, most protection comes from what it never does. What remains is protected as follows:
We do not use Google Workspace™ data obtained through Google Workspace APIs to develop, improve or train generalised or non-personalised artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models. The add-on contains no AI or machine-learning component, and no Workspace data is transferred to any AI/ML platform or third party for any purpose.
The add-on's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Gmail™ data is used only to compose the card you asked for, is transferred only to Trello at your explicit request (pressing Create card), and is never used for advertising, sold, or read by humans.
The add-on is a productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13.
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date above.
