A licence key is a signed string. The add-on checks the signature inside your own Google account and stores the key there. Nothing is sent to us, there is no account to create, and the add-on keeps working offline. When a licence lapses, Pro features switch off and everything free keeps running — you are never locked out of your own spreadsheet.
