Your licence is a key, not an account. After payment the licence key is e-mailed to you automatically, usually within a minute (if it is not there, look in your spam folder, then write to us and a person will send it again). You paste it once into the add-on, and it is verified inside your own Google account by checking its signature. Once a day the add-on also asks our licence server whether the key is still active — that request carries the key and a random installation id, and nothing about you or your spreadsheets. If it cannot reach us, your licence keeps working exactly as it did. The key stays in your account; you can remove it yourself at any time.
The free tier runs on the geocoding allowance Google gives your own account (1,000/day consumer · 10,000/day Workspace). Pro users can attach their own Google Maps Platform API key: geocoding then runs on that key, with no daily cap from Apps Script. The key is kept in your own Google account and is sent only to Google Maps with each geocoding request; any Google Maps Platform billing it incurs is between you and Google. It never reaches any server of ours.
You drop back to the free tier. You are never locked out of your own data: geocoding, the preview, the incremental mode and the status column keep working. We think being cut off from a tool you already installed is a bad way to treat people.
